There are many kinds of research studies, some in humans, some in experimental animals, and some in test tubes in the laboratory. It is widely accepted that some of the research study designs are more relevant than others. For example, the randomized clinical trial (RCT) in humans is said to be the gold standard. However, in my view, this type of study is one of the most ill-conceived experimental study designs of all for nutrition.
